WEDNESDAY MORNING ROUNDUP....

The only major daily paper reporting Toronto FC's pre-season result yesterday, is the National Post. They went as far as providing the goal scorer, which I couldn't find anywhere on Tuesday. Excellent work by the National Post, as the team itself has yet to release anything on their website. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/sports/story.html?id=1d06796d-dc6d-45f1-9f78-90e0fd041578

As a follow up to game story posted yesterday, a few more details are now available. Greg Sutton and Tomer Chencinski shared the shutout for Toronto. Toronto is now 6-1-0 in Official Preseason matches. While TFC apparently started its top lineup yesterday, including Conor Casey & Edson Buddle up top, it was local teenager Andrea Lombardo who scored for Toronto in the 84th minute, in their 1-0 victory over Creighton University of the NCAA.

The aforementioned Tomer Chencinski from Thornhill, Ontario, has apparently signed a contract with Toronto FC and will serve as the third string & reserve team keeper. Chencinski is fresh out of the NCAA College Ranks, having split his time with Fairleigh Dickinson University and Robert Morris College. http://www.fduknights.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=814563&DB_OEM_ID=11000

Canada's Men's National team, was drawn into a group with Costa Rica, Guadeloupe, and Haiti, for the Gold Cup tournament to be held later this year. Canada will be based in Miami, Florida, where Haiti will surely be the fan favourites in the group. http://www.concacaf.org/view_article.asp?id=3738
